Cansleep is a Christchurch-based provider of Sleep Medicine diagnostics and therapeutics. We offer a comprehensive service of the highest quality, which incorporates specialist clinical assessment and state-of-the-art sleep studies through to provision of therapy and long-term follow-up. We have also established links with colleagues from ENT and Dentistry.

What is OSA?

Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA) is a common sleep disorder caused by recurrent partial and complete closure of the upper airway (back of the nose and throat) during sleep. In severe cases this can occur several hundred times per night. Research suggests that a quarter of men over 30 have some degree of OSA, and 10% of women. Common symptoms include snoring, pauses in breathing during sleep (apnoeas) and daytime tiredness.

Michael completed advanced training in Respiratory Medicine at Christchurch Hospital before traveling to Australia to gain experience in Sleep Medicine.

Dr Mike Epton,

Respiratory Physician

Mike trained as a Respiratory Physician in Christchurch and subsequently completed a PhD in Perth, Western Australia.

Dr Richard Laing

Respiratory Physician

After completing Respiratory training at Christchurch Hospital, Richard gained further experience in Sleep Medicine whilst working in Auckland and Toronto.
